Chapter twenty four: competition

Translation:

  • Míla: It was better last year in Smržovka. This year there were fewer people.
  • Ondra: I told you after all that Tortharry are doing this year also a festival the same time we do!
  • Míla: So, we do a festival for Czech bands and they do the same. We need to join forces somehow, this will not do!

And now for the narration.

Chapter 24 - COMPETITION

The first Czech Death Fest took place June 12 and 13 in Autocamp Brodský in the town of Červený Kostelec in Eastern Bohemia. Exactly one week later, MetalGate OpenAir launched its second installment in Vostrov open air club near Mnichovo Hradiště (Smržovka being a forbidden zone after vol.1). Two festivals, separated from each other by only a week and approx. 73 km. A strange coincidence.

There sits the MetalGate team wondering why the attendance dropped since last time. Tereza says that the promotion was weak. Slávka says that the entrance fee was too high. Míla thinks that times are bad for heavy metal. In the end, here comes Ondra saying that there was a brand new festival called Czech Death Fest, around the same time and nearby. “Who is behind it? Tortharry, it would seem. Nonsense, it is unlikely for a band to start a festival of their own at this time. What about however Mater Monstifera? Well, they have been organizing AFOD for quite some time now. We must look at that in more detail.”

The guys from Tortharry also already noticed that there is another festival interfering with their plans, organized by a promoter who has the coin. “Wouldn’t it better to make them disappear somehow? Or rather join forces? We must look at that in more detail."

The year is 2009.
