Chapter twenty one: Smržovka
Translation:
- The local: In here? Not possible. We got subsidies so now we shall be reconstructing for five years.
- Ondra: It's gone bust. The castle is in reconstruction.
- Mayor: I know, I forgot to tell you. So make it in Parkáč!
- The local: Metal? Why not, although the mayor has no idea what he signed up for!
And now for the narration.
Chapter 21 - SMRŽOVKA
As was mentioned last time, Smržovka, an idyllic mountain town amidst Jizerské hory, became the location of the very first MetalGate OpenAir. The idea to use the local ruined castle as the actual venue went bust pretty soon, for the castle was just about to be reconstructed.
So back to Smržovka and what now? Fortunately, we recalled the local Parkhotel, the venue of the Eurion festival, a nice place in the middle of a large park. With the hotel having a large hall, it was clear that this is the place. We will have two stages – one outside, one indoors – there is a restaurant in the hotel, and nearby a green field that can serve as a campsite. Simply optimal.
The owner was a bit surprised about the outdoor stage, but liked the idea, and so did the town’s office of the mayor. The mayor himself and the lady from the local cultural center said that Smržovka will get some more attention. Little did they realize how much attention.
